In Gorakhpur, a tragic road accident claimed the lives of two sub-inspectors and seriously injured two others and the vehicle’s driver. The incident occurred in Maharajganj area of Gorakhpur district late on Monday night. The accident happened near the Katari police post amidst dense fog.
The deceased sub-inspector, identified as Santosh Kumar, was stationed at Ramgarhtal police station. Santosh Kumar and his team had been conducting a raid in Maharajganj district and were returning to Gorakhpur late one night. However, due to dense fog and high speed near the Katari police post, his vehicle lost control and collided with a roadside tree.
Eyewitnesses reported that the car was being driven at a high speed, which contributed to the accident. The injured were rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared Santosh Kumar dead. The other injured, including sub-inspector Rakesh Kushwah and sub-inspector Gita, are being treated at Gorakhpur Medical College. Their condition is described as serious.
As soon as the incident was reported, police arrived at the scene. Senior police officials quickly arrived and took the injured to hospital. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident was caused by high speed and heavy fog. The police are currently investigating the matter.
