Two cow smugglers who were shot in the legs during a police encounter with miscreants at Maharajganj police station late on Friday night were arrested. The police also apprehended the third accused in the case.
Police were conducting night patrols and checking vehicles in the area when they received information from an informer that miscreants were roaming near Ahrigaon and Nahar Puliya villages. The Superintendent of Police, Mahesh Kumar, rushed to the scene and inquired about the incident. Seeing the police, the assailants opened fire, attempting to kill themselves. Despite repeated surrender warnings, the miscreants fired again. In self-defence, the police retaliated, injuring one miscreant in the left leg and another in the right. The third miscreant was arrested at the scene.
The arrested individuals are Abuzaid, son of Samsad, a resident of Hussainabad, Ward No. 10, Nizamabad; Anil Nona, son of Harihar Nona, a resident of Kolmodipur, Maharajganj; and Abdullah, son of Shoaib, a resident of Hussainabad, Ward No. 7, Nizamabad.
